The Sound of the Heart

چکیده

t has long been known that patients with anemia often have cardiac murmurs, especially “innocent” or “flow” systolic murmurs. These murmurs are not related to valvular disease; they are, however, related to alterations of cardiac dynamics. Tachycardia, increased cardiac output, and dilatation of the heart result from a significant drop of the hemoglobin level. Thus, the myocardium is stressed by an increased work load while its oxygen supply may be decreased. Diffuse areas of myocardial necrosis ( mainly in the subendocardial myocardium of the left ventricle and of the papillary muscles ) in young patients who had suffered from severe GI bleeding, have been reported.’ This points out that, in addition to dynamic phenomena, myocardial lesions may be responsible for murmurs. Two types of murmurs have been reported in anemia. The most common is an ejection systolic murmur but a 1)ansystolic murmur, not influenced by posture, was also found in 21.1 percent of a series of 46 anemic Patients. 2 \Ve have reviewed the documents of anemic

A New Method to Improve Automated Classification of Heart Sound Signals: Filter Bank Learning in Convolutional Neural Networks

Introduction: Recent studies have acknowledged the potential of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in distinguishing healthy and morbid samples by using heart sound analyses. Unfortunately the performance of CNNs is highly dependent on the filtering procedure which is applied to signal in their convolutional layer. The present study aimed to address this problem by a...

Effect of Spiritual Counseling Based on the Sound Heart Model on Anxiety of Hemodialysis Patients

Introduction: Anxiety disorders, as spiritual distresses in hemodialysis patients are associated with an increased risk of suicide that requires spiritual care. Evidence suggests that spiritual care is not based on a model consistent with the values and culture of Muslim patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of spiritual counseling based on the Sound Heart Model on t...

Automatic classification of normal and abnormal cardiac sounds by combining features based on wavelet transform and capstral coefficients extracted from PCG signals (Research Article)

Cardiac sounds are produced by the mechanical activities of the heart and provide useful information about the function of the heart valves. Due to the transient and unstable nature of the heart's sound and the limitation of the human hearing system, it is difficult to categorize heart sound signals based on what is heard from a stethoscope. Therefore, providing an automated algorithm for prima...

A Wireless Electronic Esophageal Stethoscope for Continuous Monitoring of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems during Anaesthesia

Background: The basic requirements for monitoring anesthetized patients during surgery are assessing cardiac and respiratory function. Esophageal stethoscopes have been developed for this purpose, but these devices may not provide clear heart and lung sound due to existence of various noises in operating rooms. In addition, the stethoscope is not applicable for continues monitoring, and it is u...
